GTA VI launches on November 19, 2026. Rockstar's official page currently lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. If you are choosing a console or buying the game as a gift, start with the recipient's platform: the GTA VI name on a cover does not, by itself, tell you exactly which product you are looking at.
What each edition includes
Take-Two describes GTA VI as a single-player game and names two editions: Standard and Ultimate. Ultimate includes an additional selection of vehicles, weapons, clothing and other content for Jason and Lucia's story. That describes what comes with the purchase; it is not a reason to expect a separate story campaign or draw conclusions about the game's balance before release.
Compare the list of extras on the store's product page. If your main priority is the game itself, look at Standard first. Decide whether to pay extra for Ultimate based on the specific items you want, rather than the name of the higher-tier edition.
A box does not mean a disc
The Code-In-Box format contains a download code. PlayStation explicitly states that there is no disc inside. Anyone buying this box will still need to download the game. Check the retailer's product description before ordering, especially if you are expecting physical media.
What to check before paying
- The correct platform and exact edition name
- Whether you are buying a digital copy or a box with a code
- The account that will be used for the order
- The chosen store's code activation and refund terms
- When the product will arrive, if you want to start downloading ahead of release
Keep your order confirmation and the description of what is included. Do not give a retailer your account password for "activation": you should remain in control of your purchase. Preloading the game and being able to launch it are separate stages. The preload checklist explains how to prepare your console.
